We find that interior design is so closely linked with other areas of design: textiles, graphic, product and set, we are continually inspired by these disciplines and some of the genius practitioners that we meet.
We plan to feature designers that inspire us on our blog on a monthly basis however this month we have chosen to feature the unique talent that is the extraordinary artist Yayoi Kusama.
Working across media including painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, performance, printmaking, installation and environmental art – her output is prolific.
Our recent visit to The Moving Moment When I Went To The Universe at Victoria Miro gallery was a great introduction for many of our team members to the prolific output of this icon.
Known for her dot paintings, obsession with pumpkins and of course more recently the collaboration with Louis Vuitton – this artists seventy year long career cannot be summarised in a few lines nor can her work be categorised – but it is true to say that she is a true pioneer visionary.
The show was playful and colourful yet challenging and moving, we all walked out of the infinity mirrored room with a sense of awe and wonder at what can be achieved when the vision is strong enough – a truly inspiring experience for team Base.
