Mayfair, London W1
This was our third project for a Client we have worked very successfully for in the past. We were intrigued by this incredible duplex apartment which had been left unmodernised since the 1970s and had striking animal murals on the bathroom walls and velvet draped ceilings in the kitchen, giving us a glimpse of the period building’s wilder past!
We fell in love with the period references in the original floor-to-ceiling windows and doors and incorporated the style in our internal door design via a bronze inlay. Bespoke wall panelling was introduced to enhance the grandeur of the formal reception room, which was paired with solid parquet flooring and bespoke solid wood cabinetry, while the contemporary staircase with its clean geometry acts as a contrast to the more traditional elements of the scheme and leads the way to the upstairs bedroom suites.
As part of the brief, the Client required air conditioning, a high specification Modulnova kitchen featuring top of the range Miele appliances, a Lutron system to control the lighting, Lutron curtains and blinds and bespoke joinery throughout.
Base Interior designed and coordinated all aspects of the refurbishment, including all permissions, tendering, procurement and Client and Contractor liaison.
